We are thrilled to officially launch the Maisha Bora Youth Foundation website! Our organization is dedicated to transforming the lives of teenagers in Karatu District, Mang’ola County, Tanzania.

Our Story

“Maisha Bora”, We mean “Better Life” - and that’s exactly what we’re working to create for young people in our community. Founded on the belief that every teenager deserves the opportunity to thrive, we’ve developed comprehensive programs addressing the spiritual, social, and economic needs of youth aged 13-20.

The Need

Teenagers in our community face significant challenges:

  • Many drop out of school before completing primary education due to financial constraints
  • Young girls face risks of early pregnancy and marriage
  • Young men are vulnerable to drug use and delinquency
  • Limited access to quality education and employment opportunities
  • Economic hardship affecting entire families

Our Response

We’re responding to these challenges with holistic programming that includes:

Social Development

  • Communication and conflict resolution workshops
  • Peer mentorship programs
  • Resilience building activities
  • Leadership development

Economic Empowerment

  • English language skills training
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Financial education
  • Entrepreneurship workshops
  • Career guidance and job placement support

Spiritual Growth

  • Values clarification and personal development
  • Mindfulness and meditation practices
  • Community engagement opportunities

Our Impact Goal

We aim to reach 25 teenagers per month and 300 per year, providing them with the tools, skills, and support needed to:

  • Continue their education in secondary or technical schools
  • Find meaningful employment in their communities
  • Pursue careers, including opportunities in the military
  • Start their own businesses and become self-sufficient
